My interest in birds of prey started when I was 8 years old and used to watch a pair of Kestrels on a field near the school I attended, and from this my passion and enthusiasm grew. A friend of mine gave me a Falconry book which opened a whole new world to me, and it wasn't long before I was searching through the Cage and Aviary for birds of prey for sale. I remember the excitement I felt when I travelled 3 hours on a train to buy my first bird, a common buzzard. When I arrived I found my excitement was short lived, as the bird resembled a very over used feather duster, and well past its sell by date! However this incident didn't quash my |

enthusiasm, I did eventually get
a bird and taught myself the ancient art of falconry. On this learning path I
encountered all manner of obstacles and problems, the usual pitfalls being
birds that were sold as parent reared, only to discover at my own cost that
they were screaming imprints, deposits given for a bird I never received, ill
advise by so called falconers and breeders. Frustrated but not deterred by
these obstacles, I decided to breed |

my own birds. This was the only
way I could assure myself a hawk had the qualities I desired for
falconry. It also would give me a
choice of birds to fly, but mainly the challenge of succeeding in something
that was very much in its infancy. I always have had a preference
for Long Wings and that reflected in the fact that I wanted to breed
Peregrine Falcons. This later developed into Hybrids, as I felt that this was
another challenge, and provided another avenue for falconry. |

So I was firstly a falconer then a breeder,
I taught myself how to use artificial insemination techniques, learnt about
incubation, scales etc. I encountered
problems through the years and have learnt a lot from these experiences which
has contributed to my successes. I now breed Gyr/Peregrines,
Gyr/Praries, Gyr/Merlin, Gyr/Saker for the main purpose of falconry, the
father to all 2004 progeny is a White Gyr bred by Bob Berry. All eyasses are fed on a high
quality natural diet consisting of Quail, Partridge, Pigeon . Wild hacking and kite training
is available at an extra cost, a price list is available (contact me for a
price list) A deposit of 20% will be
required to secure a Falcon. Until
this deposit is paid, a contract to supply does not exist. If anything prevents me from supplying a
hawk, the deposit will returned in full.
If you change your mind or simply fail to collect, the deposit will
not be returned. |
